REHABILITATION CONSULTATION & TESTIMONY:
VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION SERVICES

Primary care vocational guidance and counseling services consist of three key ingredients:

1) Vocational Assessment:

  • Analyzing transferable work skills
  • Evaluating aptitudes, interests, and abilities for return-to-work considerations
  • Assessing residual employability
  • Analyzing the labor market through surveys and published data
  • Analyzing educational and self-employment potential
  • Analyzing essential and marginal job demands
  • Developing job descriptions
  • Assessing job- and case-specific reasonable accommodations
  • Assessing residual earning capacity

2) Plan Development:

  • Providing vocational guidance and counseling
  • Identifying appropriate vocational goals and options
  • Specifying individual responsibilities and time lines
  • Documenting supportive labor market following successful rehabilitation plan completion
  • Documenting expected earning capacities upon successful rehabilitation plan completion
  • Documenting plan completion, termination, and/or suspension

3) Job Development and Placement:

  • Assessing job readiness
  • Monitoring and documenting diligent job-seeking activities
  • Analyzing job-seeking, acquisition, and retention skills
  • Training in job-seeking skills
  • Monitoring work adjustment
  • Providing employee-employer education
